Bookies Book Club: Are you 18-30? Are you looking to read and discuss books with people your age? Do you love sweets? Then the “Bookies” New Adult Book Club is for you! Join Megan and Marisa on the first Tuesday of each month to read new, popular releases, discuss what you read, and eat sweets. The group will discuss Every Last Secret by author A.R. Torre. D&D at the Library: Calling all adventurers! Join us in the café area on Tuesday evenings, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., to play 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons. We offer a friendly, low-pressure environment for beginning players and veterans alike. We provide snacks and character sheets. Bring your own dice or borrow ours. Participants under 18 must have a signed waiver. 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29. No registration needed. Recommended for ages 16 to 35. Free. 

 

ALL IN: ALL IN is designed to encourage adults with intellectual/developmental difficulties and their families and caregivers to feel comfortable navigating the library and communicating with staff. Genealogy Roundtable: The topic for November is Using DNA Painter to Solve a Mystery. 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Lawrenceburg Main Library. No registration needed. Teens and adults. Free. 

 

Anime Club: HELLO ANIME LOVERS! Do you love anime, manga, or all things Japan? Do you want to try anime to see if you like it?  If so, come join the Anime Club at the Lawrenceburg Main Library! We will watch anime, eat snacks, and do fun activities! 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7 & 21, Lawrenceburg Main Library. No registration needed. Teens. Free. 

 

Taste and Trade: Come to the library to learn some new recipes and make new friends! Bring a sample (but not required) for the theme of the month. Taste and talk about food! Greendale Cemetery Tour: Learn about interesting families and tombstones during this encore tour of Greendale Cemetery with the Lawrenceburg Public Library District Genealogy and Local History Department and the Dearborn County Historical Society. After the tour a history will be given on some of the burials “removed” from Newtown Cemetery including very old pioneers. Rain or shine. Beginner’s Crochet: In this program, you’ll learn beginner’s stitches with new friends under the guidance of Heidi Williams. But all skill levels are welcome to join! LEGO Family Challenge: Challenge the whole family to come together and get creative using our provided LEGO bricks (or bring your own!). November’s challenge is World of Disney: build your favorite Disney characters with LEGOs! Know Your Veteran Benefits: Dearborn County Veteran Services Officer Dave Currence will present the program Know Your Veteran Benefits. He will give a brief overview of the Veteran Services Office and how they assist veterans and their family members with applying for benefits. He will go over VA healthcare, VA disability claims, burial benefits and transportation to the VA medical center in Cincinnati, Camp Lejeune contaminated water claims and the new PACT Act legislation. Ninth District Commander Lonny Barnett will talk about the American Legion. Attendees have a chance to win a door prize and light refreshments will be served. Creative Writers Guild: The Creative Writers Guild is a support group for writers of all locales, genres, and skill levels. Suggested November writing theme is Free Write. Kaffeeklatsch Book Club: Love to read and discuss books, but might not be able to make it every month? Give the Lawrenceburg Public Library District’s Kaffeeklatsch Book Club a try! If you like the book for the month, register to borrow a copy of the book and get ready to discuss. Group meets at Funny Farm Coffee Co., Lawrenceburg, where the library district will provide cookies, but it will be up to you if you want to buy a drink. Historical Book Club: Take a book back in time. This month is Ethel Rosenberg: An American Tragedy by Anne Sebba. In June 1953, Ethel Rosenberg and her husband were electrocuted on Death Row, both convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage for the Soviet Union. Fort Ancient Foods: Learn about archaeology and a local archaeological site through food. There will be food samples! Presented by the Archaeological Research Institute. Barks and Books: Sit. Stay. Read! Dogs make great listeners, and reading out loud to them can improve reading comprehension and confidence. Grab a book and take a paws to read out loud to a trained therapy dog! Book Chat: November is The Quiet Zone by Dianne Wilson. Deep in the Appalachian Mountains lies the last truly quiet town in America. Movie and a Snack: November movie is News of the World. War veteran Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd embarks on a new mission five years after the conclusion of the Civil War: he goes from town to town to share news about presidents, queens, catastrophes, feuds, and other interesting affairs from all around the world. In one of his stops, he meets Johanna, a 10-year-old girl who has been living with the Kiowa people for the last six years. When she is ordered to return to her biological aunt and uncle, Kidd decides to accompany her. Also pick up a free to-go dinner starting at 5:15 p.m. (before the movie) from Hamline Chapel’s weekly High Hope Café, 102 High St., Lawrenceburg, and bring it to the library.
