Hanover erupts in the second half to defeat Earlham

Hanover (8-5 overall, 4-2 HCAC) erased a 14 point half time deficit to defeat Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Earlham on Saturday afternoon, 88-73.

The Blue and Red were paced by junior Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind.) with a game-high 22 points. Sophomore. Coleman Sater (Ellettsville, Ind.) added 16 points while junior Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) netted 15 points.

Senior Jack Wininger (Elnora, Ind.) led an early Panther surge that saw them shoot to the 7-2 advantage. However, the Quakers remained poise knotting the contest at the 14:57 mark before using an 8-0 run to claim the lead.

The two team's exchanged points for much of the frame when another Earlham run saw the Quakers claim a double-digit lead, 38-28. They would enter the break with their largest lead to date of 44-30.

The Hanover offense erupted in the second half as they were able to erase the first half deficit. Junior Matt Munoz (Indianapolis, Ind.) sparked the explosion as he connected for a three-pointer at the 12:45 mark before a Gilman layup knotted the contest at 57-57. Sater sank a pair of free throws with just under 8 minutes to play when Greenamoyer hit a runner in the lane that pushed the HC lead to 70-61.

The Panthers continued to fire on all cylinders as a sophomore Michael Donoho (Rockport, Ind.) layup with 3:57 remaining gave HC the 74-63 advantage. Hanover never looked back out scoring Earlham 58-29 in the second half for the victory.
