African Gyils
African Gyils a Program Designed for Adults!Jan. 17th, 6:30 pm in the Batesville Middle School Music Room
The gyil is a West African xylophone created by the Dagaba people, typically played during formal ceremonies and recreational dancing. The BCSC is fortunate to have a set of authentic, hand-crafted gyils from Ghana and they are used daily. Join us for an evening of exciting, inclusive, and unified music-making as we discover the possibilities of the gyil and learn several traditional tunes that combine drums, shakers, bells, and vocals! No musical experience is required _ anyone can play an instrument! This special event is sponsored by the Batesville Area Arts Council, the Batesville Middle School and the Batesville Memorial Public Library.
