Hanover falls in HCAC road contest at Franklin

The Hanover Panthers (8-6 overall, 4-3 HCAC) second half comeback fell short as Franklin won the Heartland Collegiate Conference match-up on Wednesday evening, 79-74.

Senior Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) led the team with a career-high 34 points shooting an impressive 66.7 percent from the field. Sophomore Coleman Sater (Ellettsville, Ind.) chipped in 16 points while junior Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) added 10 points.

Hanover found themselves on the wrong end of a 12-0 deficit early before being able to cut the difference to as little as five points following a Houston layup. The Panthers continued to chip at the first half differential when a Sater three-pointer cut it to just 26-20 with 6:41 to play.

The Panthers resumed battle as a Houston three-pointer was able to pull the score to 33-30 before a Greenamoyer deep ball knotted the contest. However, Franklin reclaimed the advantage entering the half leading 39-35.

The second half saw the Grizzlies hot shooting ensue as they surged ahead 48-39. Hanover found themselves trailing by as many as 15 in the second half when Houston went to work. With 1:41 left to play, Houston pulled HC within 73-71 but it wasn't enough as Franklin secured the win at the free throw line.

Hanover returns to action on Saturday, January 14 when they welcome Manchester. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
