Hanover opens 2023 campaign with strong showing at MSJ

The Panthers opened the 2023 indoor track and field season strong on Saturday afternoon traveling to Mount St. Joseph.

 

Hanover finished third overall in the seven team field with 67 points.

 

Junior Aliza Boles (Lexington, Ind.) picked up a first place mark for the Blue and Red as she won the pole vault with a Hanover top 10 all-time vault of 2.55 meters. Teammate, junior Ally McGuire (Guilford, Ind.) turned in a second place finish in the event with a height of 2.40 meters.

 

Senior Zaleeya Martin (Shelbyville, Ind.) ran a fantastic 60-meter dash as she claimed second in the event with a time of 7.89.

 

In the shot put, senior Jessica Beckman (Glenwood, Ind.) improved on her all-time mark moving into second all-time with an event winning toss of 12.25 meters. Lydia Lupinski also found success in the throw events as she claimed second place in the weight throw with a top 10 mark of 13.51 meters.

 

Junior Lili Seals (Paoli, Ind.) turned in a second place mark in the high jump with a leap of 1.37 meters.

 

Junior Amberleigh Sorensen (Yorktown, Ind.) found success in the 800-meter run claiming a podium finish with a third place mark in a time of 2:31.88.

 

In the 400-meter run, junior Natalie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.) took fourth overall in a time of 1:04.63 while teammate, sophomore Hanna Whitney (Huntington, Ind.) claimed a fifth place finish in the one mile, crossing the finish line in a time of 5:55.98.

 

Freshman Sarah Jones (Greencastle, Ind.) rounded out the meet for Hanover as she took eighth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 11:59.88.
