A Matter of Balance: Join Purdue Extension- Dearborn County educator, Marcia Parcell and Shannon Chipman for an 8-week course designed for ages 65+. Each weekly session will build upon the last while focusing on becoming aware of fall factors, how to prevent falls and exercises to grow better balance. 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 8, 15, 22, and March 1, 8, 15 & 22. Lights, Camera, Action!: Teens! Do you love musicals? Do you like acting? Do you like building things? Do you like singing? Well, this club has all of that and MORE! This teen-lead program will be on the first Wednesday of every month. Imagine theatre class at school, but you choose what you do. 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, Lawrenceburg Main Library. ALL IN: ALL IN is designed to encourage adults with intellectual/developmental difficulties and their families and caregivers to feel comfortable navigating the library and communicating with staff. Genealogy Roundtable: Genealogy Roundtable.  This month we will be learning about researching house histories. Find out when your home was built, who lived there, and if it is haunted! Take & Make Craft- Chocolate Rose: Need a gift for your Valentine? Then pick up this free Take and Make craft from the Lawrenceburg Public Library District. Make a chocolate rose! In the Kitchen with Marcia: Join Purdue Extension- Dearborn County educator Marcia Parcell as she hosts and teaches a variety of cooking classes. Bookies Book Club: Are you 18-30? Are you looking to read and discuss books with people your age? Do you love sweets? Then the “Bookies” New Adult Book Club is for you! Join Megan and Marisa on the first Tuesday of each month to read new, popular releases, discuss what you read and eat sweets. Play Café: You have been asking for it. Play Café is back! Drop in with your preschooler. Allow children to play, sing, and hear stories with Ms. Meredith, while sipping coffee and chatting with other caregivers in a friendly, flexible atmosphere. Coffee for adults and a snack for children will be provided. Arrive at any time, and leave at any time; no pressure! Join Amy Rose from the Dearborn County Health Department for snacks, games, activities, and tips to help you give up the habit. Amy will help you set a goal, learn how to avoid triggers, and cope with withdrawal symptoms. We want you to feel motivated, supported, and inspired to Quit the NIC! Kaffeeklatsch Book Club: Love to read and discuss books, but might not be able to make it every month? Give the Lawrenceburg Public Library District’s Kaffeeklatsch Book Club a try! If you like the book for the month, register to borrow a copy of the book and get ready to discuss. Group meets at Funny Farm Coffee Co., Lawrenceburg, where the library district will provide cookies, but it will be up to you if you want to buy a drink. Next meeting is Feb. 11, for the book Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. In Tally’s world, your 16th birthday brings perfection: an operation to erase your flaws and transform you from an “Ugly” into a “Pretty”. But she discovers that there is nothing “pretty” about the transformation. Barks and Books: Sit. Stay. Read! Dogs make great listeners and reading out loud to them can improve reading comprehension and confidence. Grab a book and take a paws to read out loud to a trained therapy dog! Know Your Veteran Benefits: Dearborn County Veteran Services Officer Dave Currence will present the program Know Your Veteran Benefits. He will give a brief overview of the Veteran Services Office and how they assist veterans and their family members with applying for benefits. He will go over VA healthcare, VA disability claims, burial benefits and transportation to the VA medical center in Cincinnati, Camp Lejeune contaminated water claims and the new PACT Act legislation. Attendees have a chance to win a door prize and light refreshments will be served. Registration is requested, but not required. Time for Tea with Carisa: In 2023, Carisa Bunten of Seventh Street Gifts will present a program via the LPLD YouTube page on new teas each month. Anyone can watch the program, but to receive a sample of the tea featured, you must register. The tea for February is Young Hyson Loose Leaf Green. A colloquial name for this tea is Lucky Dragon Tea- complex, toning and not for the faint of heart!
